In 2005, Laurent Masseron settled in Taha'a, French Polynesia, to rediscover ancient sugarcane varieties, giving birth to Domaine Pari Pari. The first ten years were dedicated to researching varieties and cultivation methods to produce high-quality sugar, while also exploring the production of virgin coconut oil and Tamanu oil. In 2007, the domain became the first certified organic producer. Since 2015, it has proudly produced its T Rhum with the help of sixty local producers. Visitors are welcome for tastings, from Monday to Sunday.

When public bodies invest in the rum ecosystem: the case of French Polynesia

Polynesia is considered a third country in Europe. Yet this territory is a source of wealth for France, with a variety of terroirs and populations that give rums high added value. The aim of the union and the public authorities is to plant 1,000 hectares and create 3,000 jobs in the rum sector by 2040.
